One of Our First Employees has been Accepted to Vet School!
Kimie Koon is a true gift to every person and animal she meets. Many of you have had the good fortune to know Kimie, some have just heard me rave about this amazing young woman, and others I simply know are animal lovers and advocates. Please support her by viewing and voting for her short video(you’ll see an owl, and it says Byron….this IS the right video), as a way to help pay for her Veterinary school.
Kimie was a paramount part of the early Assisted Transitions teams. She has been a constant advocate for her deep belief in compassionate and fair treatment of animals ~ and her soul is, for lack of any better way to say this, made for this work.

In Kimie’s words:
“NEVER GIVE UP”
Animals have been my life since I was born. I have known my purpose in life since I can remember. I am meant to be an “animal doctor.” Told I wasn’t smart enough when I entered Pre-Vet in College, I sadly pulled out of the field. I continued my passion for animals, working with Chimpanzees, Orca whales, shark, Humpbacks, Sea Turtles, Dogs, Cats, farm animals and seal pups to name a few. I worked in a Vet hospital, I’ve done disaster relief, wildlife rehab, marine conservation and have also been an animal cruelty investigator, to name a few. All the while, still wanting to be able to help more, and become a Vet. Now over ten years out of college, I quit my job and went back to school to get the pre-req’s that I hadn’t done in undergrad to get try at that vet school again. I got in, I am so happy, I know this is my calling! I am heading to vet school in a month! I know this is my purpose, and I can’t let money stop me, but I know I will be paying this off for the rest of my life. This web photo contest is super simple, just vote, and it could help me get some help to pay for school. That’s all,
THANK YOU

Yea, Kimie!! I voted for your video and sent the link to some friends so they could vote as well. Hope you win! You’ll be a great vet! Don’t let anyone tell you you’re not smart enough! My mother told me that when I was in school and that’s why I’m not a doctor. I wish I had never listened to her! Good Luck!
